Galla Placidia

Daughter of the emperor Theodosius and sister to Arcadius and Honorius, she was one of the most prominent women of the 5th century CE. Married to Athaulf, the king of the Visigoths until 414, she was later empress to Constantius III until his death in 421, whereupon she became the regent of the Western Roman Empire while her son Valentinian III came of age.
