Stepson of Augustus and second emperor of Rome (14 CE to 37 CE), Tiberius Caesar Augustus was a moody man who eventually removed himself to his villa on Capri and gave up the rule of the empire to his bureaucrats, before leaving the empire to his nephew’s son, Caligula.
